First, quickly read the text to get the general content, the Hauptidee (main idea). This is called Überfliegen (skimming) in German. Don't try to translate every word. Then, focus on words you know or consider important – your Schlüsselwörter (keywords). Try to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words from the sentence's overall flow, the Kontext (context). For instance, if reading a weather forecast, Sonne (sun) or Regen (rain) are key.
Remember, you don't need to know every word. The main goal is to understand the overall message. Keep practicing to improve!
